Our light-filled loft studio by the water of Leith is filled with beautifully crafted looms, colourful yarns and the gentle rhythm of making. With a cup of fresh coffee or tea beside you, you’ll join a small group of like-minded people and learn the fundamentals of rigid heddle weaving in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Our beginner weaving workshops in Edinburgh are designed for anyone who has always wanted to try weaving but hasn’t yet taken that first step. No previous experience is needed — just a little curiosity and a willingness to have a go.
You’ll be guided through the process of creating your own handwoven piece, from selecting your colours and preparing your yarn to winding the warp onto the loom and learning how to weave with an even beat and neat selvedges.
The studio shelves are stocked with a beautiful collection of yarns, many of which have been sustainably sourced from industry waste and deadstock supplies. Depending on the workshop, you might weave with soft lambswool to create a cosy scarf or experiment with colourful cottons to make a unique piece of homeware.
