Weaving with Kompany

Weaving Workshops

We offer evening and weekend rigid heddle loom weaving workshops.

Classes are made up of a maximum of three students so that you get lots of hands on guidance from Sarah.

  • At these workshops you will learn:

  • How to set up the loom for your design

  • How to weave your design

  • Improving selvedges and even beat

  • Finishing the piece by sewing or hem stitch on the loom

Materials used:

We stock a range of colours for use in workshops in the following fibres:

  • Cotton

  • Mercerised cotton

  • Lambs wool

We use industry waste yarn!

That means the yarn we have in stock has been prevented from ending up landfill and is of a high quality made for the weaving industry. We source locally from England. It can mean we are limited in colour choice, but you will hardly notice. It may mean that what we have in stock of the colours you want to use is all we have available, and we cannot get more. But remember design limitations increase creativity!

Evening Workshops

Our evening weaving workshops take place on Thursdays from 6-8:30pm and run for 6 consecutive weeks.

In this time you will receive guidance designing and executing a project of your choice using a rigid heddle loom.

We weave on Kromski harp rigid heddle looms.

Weekend Workshops

Weekend workshops take place a few times per year and run over a Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4pm both days.

In these workshops you will receive guidance designing and executing a project of your choice in much the same way as our evening classes.

The main difference for the weekend workshops is that you’ll be weaving a lot in two days.

Great for people who cannot commit for a whole evening each week.
